CANADIAN HUNGARIAN JOURNAL & COMMUNITY ARCHIVES
Welcome to the Canadian Hungarian Journal & Community Archives! More than 150,000 Canadians of Hungarian origin live in the larger cities of Canada, especially in Toronto, Montreal and throughout southern Ontario.  Hungarians have been living in Canada since the beginning of the twentieth century when they first settled in rural areas of the western provinces. The Canadian Hungarian Journal & Community Archives aims to provide information about the present and past activities of the Hungarian communities of Canada.

The purpose of this website is twofold. Firstly, the Journal intends to provide current information on Hungarian
churches, community organizations and Hungarian schools operating across Canada. Additionally, the Journal publishes articles on upcoming events in Canada's Hungarian communities as well as other news of significance to Hungarians living in Canada.

The second mission of this website is, in fact, a pilot project at this stage. The Canadian Hungarian
Community Archives aims to make available, in electronic format, primary source documents pertaining to the history of Canada's Hungarian communities. The Archives are currently being expanded with the documents of Hungarian churches and parish communities. These documents are otherwise not readily available and have only been printed in limited quantities. The Canadian Hungarian Community Archives aims to develop into a valuable source of information for researchers.

The Canadian Hungarian Journal and Community Archives website is  available primarily in Hungarian. However, English and French documents will be made available in the Archives. Moreover, if you have any documents that may be of interest to other readers and would be appropriate for this site, please send an e-mail to the address below. Also, the website accepts articles on future or past events in the Hungarian community and news from any Canadian-Hungarian non-profit organization. Please write to the address below in English, French or Hungarian. Articles may be edited for length or clarity.
